At Bay Area, we serve. Being a part of the Bay Area family means serving. It's who we are and what we do.
WE SERVE LIKE JESUS.
Jesus was a servant (Mark 10:45). He is our true and ultimate model of service: laying down his own will to serve God and others in love and humility. As we follow Him, He invites us to imitate him by serving others (John 13:13-15). Living the life of a servant is a crucial posture we take as we become passionate, maturing followers of Jesus from here to the nations. Because of this, we aspire to Serve Like Jesus individually and together as a church family.
WE SERVE BY USING OUR GIFTS.
We do this by first embracing our identity as servants - we serve God, each other, and the lost. We can best live out our identity as servants when we discover and deploy our spiritual gifts we receive when coming to faith. These gifts, in conjunction with our personal experiences, circumstances, and even hardships, are what make us a unique and necessary part of the body of Christ. We mature into Christlikeness as we serve, as does the body (Ephesians 4).
WE GROW AS WE SERVE.
Discipleship starts with each of us becoming like Jesus. We are never more like Jesus than when we are serving. As we serve, we take on more of the character of Christ and God uses us to build up the church and reach the world. As we each serve by using our gifts, God will use us from here to the nations!
