PRECIOUS SOULS MINISTRY

UGANDA

Precious Souls Ministry (PSM) partners with local social workers to visit homes within the community of Butiru and assess the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of families affected by HIV/AIDS. PSM provides micro-financing, assesses shelter needs in order to repair the homes of people in need. They also evaluate the educational system while helping to advance it. People who have HIV are often stigmatized in the community and not valued. PSM helps these individuals see the value of all people and works to restore HIV positive people, also known as “precious souls,” in the community.

MISSION:

The Precious Souls Ministry partners with Bay Area Community Church short term mission teams to reach out to children and youth living with or made vulnerable by HIV. Every year, the ministry hosts short term missionaries who come alongside community volunteers to host a Children's Bible Camp Weekend over three days in three different locations. Each day, about 70 children arrive in new bright tshirts that celebrate their lives as "Angels" (children 12 years old or younger) and "Wakanda" (children 13 - 18 years old) surviving and thriving in some of the most austere conditions imaginable, only by the grace and love of the Lord. Many come to hear about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for the first time at the Children's Bible Camp. Some get to hear during a home visit by the army of community volunteers that the Precious Sous Ministry deploy to educate families using the "Salvation Diagram." Others receive the STM teams in their homes and hear about the saving grace and love of our Lord Jesus Christ.

HOW CAN I PRAY FOR THEM?

  • Pray for the Lord to raise up more missionaries from Bay Area Community Church to travel to Uganda to serve alongside the Precious Souls Ministry community volunteers.
  • Pray that the Lord would continue to raise up leaders in Uganda for the future of the ministry for "the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few."  (Matthew 9:35-38)
  • Pray that the ministry will continue to support children, orphans, widows and families affected by HIV to continue to survive, thrive and come to know the Lord.
  • Pray that the community and the world would come to know these beautiful, wonderful precious souls for who they are - children of God - "fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:14)
