Am I persevering in prayer?

Discipleship is prayerful. We are changed as we commune with God through prayer.

Luke 11:1-4 - “One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” He said to them, “When you pray, say: “‘Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come.Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation’”

Without prayer, we go nowhere! As disciples, it is impossible to cultivate an intimate, personal relationship with Jesus without prayer. Prayer is the lifeline of discipleship! It shifts our perspectives and changes our wills to be aligned with God.

When we pray, we can expect to grow in humble dependence on our Father.

As we pray, we go from:
  • Disbelieving God to confiding and relying on Him
  • Relying on prayer only in a crisis to joyfully praying about everything
  • Praying only for ourselves to interceding for others
