POLAND

About Poland

Poland has a rich Christian heritage, but like many parts of Europe, the country has experienced increasing secularization and declining participation in traditional church life. Many people have cultural familiarity with Christianity but little personal relationship with Jesus. Churches and ministries across Poland are seeking creative ways to engage families and introduce people to the gospel. Through relationships, hospitality, and personal conversations, God is opening doors for ministry.

The population of Poland is around 38,007,000 people, and the primary language spoken is Polish. The primary religion is Roman Catholicism with about 82% of the population reported as professing Catholics, and of the 24 people groups there are 4 that are unreached.

Tomek & Damaris Otremba

ABOUT:
Tom and Damaris Otremba are a pastoral couple who, for the past 21 years, have led a church planting ministry in Poland. Both are blessed with a heritage of three generations of pastoral and church planting families. They also have two adult children, Krystian and Pollyanna, who love Christ and share this same passion for serving Him. Years of hands-on pastoral experience have equipped Tom and Damaris with the understanding of the dire needs within the Polish church.

MISSION:
 God has placed a burning desire in the Otrembas’ hearts for the reformation of the church in Poland, with a focus on advancing the Gospel. To multiply their efforts in the next stage of their ministry, they desire to raise up a new generation of church leaders immersed in sound, gospel-centered, biblically reformed theology. To that end, they are pursuing a calling to establish and develop the Institute for Reformation, Poland.

MISSION:
 We want to serve God and people according to Jesus’ words in Acts 1:8,  “ . . . you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” The vision includes, among others:
  • Prepare and mobilize missionaries and churches in Poland for missionary activities outside Poland;
  • Lead a new generation of leaders and pastors to Christian maturity;
  • Support the establishment of new local missional churches in Poland.
