About Appalachia
The Appalachian region has a rich Christian heritage, but many communities today face significant economic, social, and spiritual challenges. Decades of economic decline, population loss, and limited opportunities have created deep needs among many families. At the same time, God is actively working through churches and ministries that are bringing hope, practical support, and the message of Jesus to local communities. Our partnership in Appalachia gives Bay Area the opportunity to serve alongside faithful believers who are investing in children, families, and the next generation.

Trip Information
Serve alongside the Wade Center’s summer program, a day camp serving children in the Bluefield, WV community. Our team will help lead activities throughout the week, including Bible lessons, games, crafts, sports and special events designed to encourage students and share the love of Jesus. The Wade Center serves children and families experiencing significant challenges by providing a safe environment where students can learn, grow, receive meals, and experience Christ’s love through caring relationships. Team members will have the opportunity to invest in students through teaching, encouragement and discipleship.
This is a great opportunity for students who love working with children and want to use their gifts to serve God’s mission. This team is designed specifically for Bay Area Student Ministry students and approved trip leaders. Because the experience is intentionally structured around student discipleship, participation is limited to students and team leaders. Families or adults looking to serve together are encouraged to consider one of our other family-friendly mission opportunities.
